“You have a lot to explain,”was all Malcolm would say in reply.
He then maneuvered them both into the shop, helping Daya sit down in a chair. Afterward, he went into the back room to find something for Daya to sleep on. It took him a moment, but he managed to find an old cot he’d used when he’d first moved in. He also found a couple blankets and pillows.
Malcolm set the cot up in a small recreational room he’d built a few years ago, putting all the pillows and blankets on the cot. He then headed to the front of the store, to Daya.
“I set up a bed for you, but I have a few conditions. Firstly, anything you see that isn’t yours, is mine, so don’t touch it. Secondly, my sleep is shit, so don’t wake me unless it’s necessary. Thirdly, while you are here, you will answer my questions, completely and truthfully, or I throw you out onto the street. Am I understood?”he asked.
“ yes sir,” she said in a taunting tone “ are you gonna make a red room for me too?” she said, referencing a movie
Malcolm didn’t appreciate her tone, nor did he have any idea what she meant by a ‘red room’.
“If you want to be on the street, be my fucking guest. But, I will tell you now, no one will fuck with you if you stay here. And, that includes your asshole brother,”he hissed.
Daya was almost shocked that Malcolm had never seen fifty shades of grey “ no, I'm sorry, it was a joke to lighten the mood.” she mumbled
“What do you want to know?”
Malcolm rose his eyebrow, not impressed by her attempt to joke. He then searched for a chair, moved to sit in front of Daya, and sat down.
“Explain this ‘past life’ thing between us. I get that we were supposedly lovers, and I… I guess, I ‘feel’ that familiarity. But, I don’t get anything else about it. Not to mention that I’ve never believed in past lives, so that just makes this even more confusing,”he said.
“Our past lives as gods entwined our fate forever. Your goddess resides within you as Sekhmet. It's why you feel the way you do.. “ she said and sighed “ if you put on that necklace, you'll earn your powers as the God you represent. You are also ra’s lover. My lover..”
Malcolm just stared at her in bewilderment for a moment.
“First off, I thought Sekhmet was Ra’s daughter, not lover, and an extension of his wrath. Second, how… why am I the goddess and you the god? That just makes no fucking sense. I… I get the matching personalities, but… I have always been a man, to my knowledge,”he said.
Though, even as he said that, the fact that he was the goddess of the pair did seem to explain a couple mysteries of his life. He just wasn’t sure if it was actually an answer, or if he was just reaching for the first, nonsensical thing to explain his life’s troubles.
(fucking wiki lied, omfg.)
“ I may be confused about old names for this shit but I know reincarnations can take on other genders,” she said, scoffing slightly
(I don’t use Wikipedia by itself. From what I’ve found, Sekhmet was created by Ra as an ‘Eye of Ra’, a weapon to show his wrath basically. She’s also an alternate form of Hathor. Also, she’s married to Ptah, who’s a creator god that supposedly created the universe)
(Though, Hathor is Ra’s wife, so that could actually explain it)
( alright, we can go with that, )
(Thumbs-up. It get confusing way too easy, it’s ridiculous. But, the ‘Eye of Ra’ is also a title held by several goddesses, and it also means that they’re the female counterpart of Ra. So, Hathor would technically be Ra’s primary wife, while Sekhmet is an alternate form of Hathor, or even Ra himself. Something like that. Like I said, it gets confusing)
Malcolm rose his eyebrow again.
“Okay… now that I’m apparently the reincarnation of a lioness deity… Why are we reincarnations?”he asked.
“ The Gods made a plan to live on and give mortals the gifts of their love”
“So, basically the ‘gods’ are omnipotent assholes that wanted to live forever even though they’re already immortal?”Malcolm asked derisively.
Days nodded, sighing softly “ pretty much. “ she said “and you have no idea how bad I've wanted to kiss and hug you because of these damn memorys”
Malcolm rolled his eyes.
“Fucking typical. Now, why is it you remember our ‘relationship’, but I don’t? Ra’s influence as the kingly god, perhaps? Or do you even know?”he asked.
“I don't know.. I just always have,” she said softly, looking away from him
Malcolm watched her turn away and his real eye narrowed slightly.
“Don’t lie to me,”he stated.
“ Malcolm I'm not!” she said quickly “ please, just believe me.”
“Then what aren’t you telling me?”he questioned.
“In your last life.. That necklace was yours.. You killed yourself for me to live on..” she whispered
Malcolm leaned forward to better hear Daya, then sat back, stunned. He would never do such a thing, never! Unless… it was for something he loved dearly. He glanced off at the robot sitting nearby, remembering the explosion that had nearly killed him.
He’d watched his nanobots die, but he had refused to move, even when the explosion finally hit. It had broken his heart to see those nanobots die, and once he’d recovered, he started it all over again, rebuilding those bots from memory and expanding upon their legacy.
“Why? Was I protecting you from Maximus?”he asked softly.
“Yes, yes you were..” she said, tears pricking her eyes “maximus slit my throat soon after.”
