Carson laughed at the second message as he walked into his apartment.
Sounds good. Here's the address, drive safe :)
He quickly got changed into his pajamas, dropping onto the couch and hoping he wouldn't fall asleep before Gwen got there.
Gwendolyn read the message, he got up; going around turning all the lights off in her little bungalow. She locked the front door and left.
When she got to her car she pulled her car keys out of her light purple, velvet purse.
She drove to the nearest store, and got Vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, Caramel syrup, whipped cream, and rainbow colored sprinkles. She paid at the self checkout area, and took her singular bag to her car, she sat it in the front passenger seat, and turned the car and heat on; she waited for the hot air to hit her exposed skin, once it did she started driving.
In the midst of driving she typed Carson's address into her phones GPS, then followed th directions it gave her.
When she arrived she pulled in the driveway, got out; taking the bag with her, she walked slowly up the walk to the small house, and then knocked on the front door.
Carson woke himself up and went to answer the door. "Oh hey stranger. Glad you could make it. Come on in." He tossed his since let down hair out of his face and stepped aside to let Gwen in.
Gwendolyn gave a smile and stepped in, taking in the decorations of the house (not gonna describe them, so there is room for you to determine what Carson likes and how he decorates)
She then turned to Carson, lifting the shopping bag of sundae items she brought, a little as she said
"where can I put this?" with a soft tone, and sweet smile.
Carson's apartment was small but cozy and covered in band and anime merchandise.
"Just put it on the coffee table, I'll get some bowls." Carson gestured to the table in front of the TV and went to the kitchen to get bowls and spoons.
Gwendolyn kept the smile pasted on her face, and followed to where he was talking about, he sat the bag down, then made herself comfortable on the sofa, spreading her legs slightly.
I hate that they call this manspreading she thought to herself discreetly what if a woman is doing it
She caught herself looking at her lap, her crotch to be specific, and her eyes filled with sadness and longing.
Then again you're not really a woman, are you? she shook her head as if to banish the thought, and reminded herself she was, no matter what some conservative christian old woman her psychology professor, or random people thought of her.
Carson came out a minute later carrying bowls and spoons. "Here you are my lovely lady." He handed her one of each with a sparkling smile.
Gwendolyn gently sat her bowl on the coffee table in front of her, she opened the bag, bringing out the ice cream, and the ice cream scoop she had thrown in the bag from home, and started digging at the ice cream with the scooper, it came out easily, due to the ice cream being a bit soft from not being in the refrigerator.
She then gave each bowl a heaping two scoops, she took out the rest of the ingredient from the bag, piling the icecream in each bowl with whipped cream, then drizzling it with syrup, and finally adding sprinkles to both.
She slid Carson bowl closer to him, and picked up her spoon and said
"dig in, I dont know about you but im craving ice cream." And dug into the sundae with a spoon, shoveling it into her mouth.
"Can't say I blame you." He dropped onto the couch next to her and dug into his ice cream. It had been a long day, he deserved this. Not to mention his sweet tooth was screaming for relief that it was finally getting.
Gwendolyn devoured her ice cream, then sat the empty bowl on the table in front of her. She then turned to Carson. her eye's sparkling.
"Wanna watch a movie?" she asked him hopefully.
"Well that depends on what you wanna watch. Tell me to put on Sister Act and I'm kicking you out. My sister is obsessed with that movie and I have watched it easily 100 times in like 2 months."
Gwendolyn gives a low and only to her, manly sounding scoff, she then coughs and clears her throat, a slight sweat breaking out on her forehead. She turned away from Carson as she spoke.
"I was thinking Coraline actually— y'know with the other mother, I love it, its my comfort movie." She says quietly, when she finishes her sentence she then turns her head forward, avoiding eye contact.
Should I tell him now? She asks herself Hopefully he didn't hear that grunt, or I won't have to tell him at all, he'll have figured it out- she thought to herself.
"Well while you overthink whatever you're overthinking about over there, I'll put it on." He chuckled, leaning back as he scrolled through Netflix to find the movie.
Gwendolyn shut her eyes tight, so tight she saw red and orange light swim behind her lids.
She took a sharp inhale and tilted her chin up in false confidence, she opened her mouth and blurted
"Carson im– im trans" she said, pulling her hands up to her eyes, and covering them, she turned away.
"Oh, really? Cool. I'm pan. Do you mind if I have subtitles on? I don't want to turn it up too loud or my neighbors complain." He barely spared Gwen a second glance. Who was he to care about what other people identified as? He loved them all the same.
Gwendolyn said a silent prayer inside her head, then turned to him as she tucked her feet beneath her.
"No I don't mind at all. though I do appreciate the acknowledgment." She joked then turned away, wondering if he would know it was a joke.
"Subtitles are great." She said in a monotone voice.
"Fantastic." He turned the movie on and turned to her with a smile before motioning for her to come closer. "Well come on, get over here. I don't bite, beautiful."
He wanted to make it clear that he had heard her statement but that it didn't change the way he thought of her. He had figured she meant trans male to female considering she always presented female although he was sure she'd clarify if she believed his thoughts were wrong.
Gwendolyn scooted closer, after the movie started, she leaned herself against Carson's shoulder. She enjoyed the warmth of him, something she could easily be finding herself getting addicted to.
"Yeah but I can't promise I don't" she said in very late response, a sly smirk planted on her lips, she cuddled closer, laying her hand on top of his.
She laughed at the part where Coraline and Wybie first met, and he had told her she was holding poison oak and not an actual dowsing rod.
"Don't threaten me with a good time." He shot back playfully with a chuckle, wrapping an arm around Gwen's waist and pulling her fully into his side before settling down to watch the movie.
Gwendolyn still had her feet tucked under her, she leaned her head against his chest, and mustered up all her confidence she had built up over the years, from transphobic fellow highschool students, to protests against people like herself, people born in the wrong body and used it to speak.
"You really…dont care at all?" she asked curiously, out of all the people she had come out to, she had never had this response before.
I wonder if he really just doesnt care? she thought to herself, a small secret smile pasted on her face.
"I'm supposed to? You're Gwen. The sweet, old fashioned, beautiful woman I've come to know over the past six months. Why should I care if that's who you've always been or who you've come to be. Welcome to pansexuality, I could love you even if you identified as a toaster." Carson shrugged with a soft chuckle.
Gwendolyn gave a solid smile and a soft nod, and snuggled into his chest even more, hearing those words come from someone who mattered that much to her was wonderful, and suddenly she realised that she didnt care what anyone thought, as long as she had Carson; who didn't care.
She slid her hand into his, gripping his hand softly, and turned to him, and smiled as widely and as pure as she had in a really long time, here she was with a boy she liked, who liked her back even though she was a trans woman, and to her that was the best thing in the entire world.
Carson flashed her a sweet smile and gently kissed her forehead before turning back to the movie. "Now watch. You're the one who picked the movie, I expected you to be more interested in it."
Gwendolyn gave a soft smile and mumbled "more interested in other things–" and turned her head back to the movie.
She enjoyed the movie, smiling when the colors of the tunnel to the other world flashed on the screen, she laughed when the mice did the carnival, and cried when Coraline reunited with her actual parents.
Carson split his attention between watching the movie and watching Gwen's reactions. He found them absolutely adorable, he just had to. He was mostly quiet, letting her have the reactions while he watched.
