(Iolite) -whispering- According to my old company, I'm already scary. I mean, I'm sure an anthropomorphic cat with a snake for a tail is odd, but does that mean it's scary.

(Phalakros) “Not all creatures are foul. Yes… there are many frightening things in existence… yet, there are many other things that are beautiful, wonderful.”
(Lucitius) He glances over with a strange look.
“I hope you are not mooning over mine Synthia. There may conflict awaiting you, and not just from me.”
He turns back to his stern watching of Iolite, the feline newcomer, and his surroundings.
(Phalakros) He pauses with an awkward glance at Lucitius. He turns back to the child.
“As I said, not all creatures are foul, and not all things are frightening. I… have known… know… of some… terrifying things… yet I have learned to avoid them when I can. To find a focus that brings joy, and to think of it often.”
(Lucitius) He gave a suspicious sideways glance, but said nothing.
???: I…I-I only lived in a c-cage…only time I-I was taken out…w-w-was so they c-could…they could…
His body starts to shake uncontrollably suddenly, as if the thoughts of torture and pain were distressing him greatly
M-mama…she tried…
(Phalakros) His legs curled and he seemed to understand the child’s torment. He picked out another feather from his hair, his shaky hand fiddling with it.
“Try to find something to soothe yourself, to take your mind off of it. Look around here, what do you see? What… colors do you like?”
He deliberately avoided looking at the floor.
(Lucitius) He watched Phalakros with concern, a pained gleam in his eyes.
“Why are the innocent always punished?”,he mumbled to himself.
(Me) Ok. As you've seen before, I'm partial to swapping characters out. Iolite's old news and Ara can't speak English, so I'm switching them out for Akuji. Have fun with this overpowered chaotic girl. I may have given her a cotton candy colour scheme. I imagine her sounding british.
(Akuji) Greetings, everyone.
???: Body continues to shake, though lifts his small head to try and look around, blue eyes shining slightly. Pauses, rubbing his eyes a bit
C-colors…blue…m-m-mama…I remember her scales…they w-were a pale blue…
Seems to calm down, if only slightly, the once violent shaking of his body changes to trembling now and then
(Akuji) Oh, it looks like you've got a child on your hands. I'm only good with children who aren't shaking like they're going to die.
(Lucitius) “Greetings. I would not be rude, as I am easily agitated.”
He scrutinizes the newcomer cautiously, moving to stand between Akuji and Phalakros.
(Phalakros) He is oblivious to Akuji.
“Blue. I have never been able to decide mine own favorite color. Green, possibly, or brown. Yet, I think someone else here likes blue.”
He smiles, nodding his head to Lucitius, who has blue scales and wears a silk blue robe.
“And worry not, he might seem a bit frightening with those large claws, yet he is a protector, a guardian. He has saved mine life countless times… though, I think I have saved his many times as well. ‘Tis strange, our bond. Yet, beyond all that, what else do you like? Do you have a favorite animal or creature? Favorite object?”
He still fiddles with the feather in his hair, subtly rocking back and forth.
(Me) Something kind of funny. Phalakros has green eyes and brown scales. That’s actually why he says those as his possible favorite colors because I haven’t got a ‘favorite color’ for him yet.
???:* At the sudden harsh voice, instantly seems to retreat into himself again. Body shakes now and then, tail curling more tightly between his legs. Though seems to try and pay more attention to Phalakros, though clearly seeming to be slightly distressed again
I…I do not know much…I-I heard others t-talk of things…b-b-but I don't know what they were t-talking about…I'm sorry…
(Phalakros) He glances at Akuji and Lucitius, hoping there wouldn’t be another battle. He turns back to the child.
“You have no need to be sorry for things you could not control. Here, what is your name? Mine is Phalakros. It refers to a bird I resemble.”
He lifts up a feather from his hair with a shy smile.
Eilander: …o-ok…
Fidgets slightly with his tail, then looks up. Looks curiously at the feather, then looks back to Phalakros
E-Eilander…I was named Eilander…
(Phalakros) He gives another shy smile.
“Eilander. I have never met someone named Eilander until now. ‘Tis a fascinating name.”
He resumes caressing his feather, though he seems a bit less tense now.
Eilander: Mama t-told me it was a s-s-strong name when I-I was still with her…like daddy…I never knew daddy…
(Phalakros) “It indeed sounds like a strong name. And… you are fortunate to have known your mother. I never met either of mine parents. I was raised by a leader of rogues, and… he only knew mine father breifly. Yet, anyway, is there any activities you like? I like to watch the sky occasionally, imagining what the clouds are saying to each other.”
Eilander: I only knew her for a c-c-couple of months…
blue eyes shift to the ground again
They t-took me away when they found me…
Grows quiet for a few moments, holding his tail
Activities? M-mama told me stories when s-she could…I-I wasn't allowed out of h-hiding…even though they still found me…
(Phalakros) He looks at Eilander sorrowfully.
“‘Tis a horrible thing that others would harm younglings such as you. There is no reason for such…”
(Lucitius) “Reason does not always exist. Use the past as a guide to become stronger, that you might prevent other younglings from feeling the same pain.”
His rumbling voice was quiet, though he seemed slightly irritated by Phalakros’ words.
(Phalakros) His eyes widened in shock, even horror, at Lucitius’ interruption.
“You are giving advice that you have never used?”
(Lucitius) “I am unique, and mine past cannot be easily replicated.”
(Phalakros) “That means nothing.”
(Lucitius) “Regardless, ‘tis advice he can still use. We all have scars. How we use them is what matters.” He nodded to Eilander.
(Phalakros) “You are a poor example of that.”
(Lucitius) He sighs, then speaks in a barely audible voice.
“You are not.”
He turns away.
Deimos: Many believe the small are weak. Some seek to protect, others to neglect
had seemingly stepped out from the darkness. Following close behind…
Carol: A bipedal like goat creature with a walking stick and shawl follows close behind. Her ears flick forward, gray growing around the black of her muzzle, body covered in dulling white fur. Though despite the age, her eyes still spark with life
Well now, what have we here?
Deimos: steps to the side for a moment
Madame Carol, Lucitius and Phalakros, and vice-versa
Carol: Oh no need to be so formal, Demmy, Granny Carol is fine
Deimos: An actual bit of color seems to come to his usually pale cheeks. A soft huff comes from him, ears twitching further backwards against his head
Ahem…how is the child if I may ask?
Turns his head, hidden gaze come to look towards where Phalakros sat with little Eilander
Eilander: Small head perks up, looking curiously at the new creature nearby Deimos that called herself 'Carol'
Me: Just poking in here to drop Carol's character profile - Carol
She is a Guasnan, goat-like humanoids/anthros that I created for my world
(Me) You know, I should just take out my undeveloped characters and stick in my series characters. No, I'm not talking about fandom OCss, I'm talking about characters with who I am planning to make a story. Though, Lucitius may not like a lot of them. I will give them all transitions in and pour one in right now. I'll just grabs vacuum get Akuji back now.
(???) Hello! She waves
(Me) You have some really neat characters, Dragoncita.
(Phalakros) “Greetings, Madame Carol. Th… this is Eilander. I have been talking to him most of the time you were gone.”
He seems unsure how to continue.
(Lucitius) “Greetings.”
He gives a small bow to Carol, then turns to Deimos.
“I agree. Yet, too many seem to neglect, in recent times. I fear the peak of the Protectors has long since passed.”
(Phalakros) He glances at Lucitius warily. He then notices the other newcomer and stares with wide, blank eyes.
(Lucitius) He turns to the newcomer with a cautious gaze, moving to stand between her and Eilander.
(???) I guess I understand that. I don't have the most normal appearance. I'm Delta, by the way.
Carol: Gives a slight bow of her head towards Phalakros and Lucitius, a smile remaining on her muzzle
Pleasure is all mine dears
Ah, that must be the little one Deimos mentioned; Eilander, such a lovely name
Deimos: Watches a few moments, one ear twitching as the newest addition spoke, introducing themselves as 'Delta', though seems to shift hidden gaze back towards Lucitius
Aye, it does seem that way at times doesn't it?
There are at least still a few trying to look out for others than just themselves, finding them however, is another story
Eilander: listening quietly, the boy's shaking has eased quite a bit now that things seemed to have settled down for the most part. The fidgeting with his tail even eased a bit
F-fal…Felek…Phalakros has been very kind to me…it's…nice…
Seemed to have troubled prouncing the name at first, but finally figured it out
Deimos: Well, that's good then no?
Carol: Her ears swivel forward
Of course it is my boy! A child needs love, care and attention
Ah, my little ones have all but grown up and now have their own kids
My how they grow up fast, and yet still here I am
Chuckles softly to herself
Me: Bows
Thank you
Pleased that I'm managing to use some of my other characters than most of my others which are pretty much all dragons lel
Though I will say, nearly all of my characters are some type of creature
Most of them do have a human or humanoid form
(Me) Lol. That’s cool, and I can definitely understand, though most of my characters are drāckonians instead of dragons. And I’m pleased to actually introduce Lucitius to others, this rp alone has revealed a bit about him that I have missed!
I do have other characters/races as well (I usually try to keep them humanoid, and almost all of them are shapeshifters, but some of them are questionable just because they’re so unusual), but most of them are so isolated I don’t know what to do with them in an rp.
———
(Lucitius) His stern expression at Delta lightens a bit and he turns back to Deimos.
“Indeed, especially the altruistic ones, if any exist. I am not among those, no matter how much I may yearn to be at any time, yet I try to balance mine own needs with that of mine task. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.”
(Phalakros) He warily looks away from Delta and gives Eilander a shy smile. He looks at Deimos and Carol timidly, unsure what to do next.
(Me) Honestly, same here, most of my characters are not humans. A lot of them are very animal-like and a lot of them are very weird. This batch of characters, however, consists of either 2 or 3 main humans, Delta and possibly a ghost. Also, Delta is definitely somewhat altruistic; her best friend, on the other hand, is not.
(Delta) Huh? She's confused by the Old English, as she doesn't know what it is
(Me) That’s pretty cool, and I do a lot of animal-like creatures too! Don’t mind the spidery ones, they’re just strange. (And don’t mind me, I’m actually still fairly new here and I’ve been deprived of a writer’s group of any kind for so darn long! I’m just really happy right now).
(Lucitius) He turns to Delta and considers her expression for a moment.
“‘Tis… It is my accent that confuses you, aye?”
His gutteral accent slips into a much more melodic tone as he speaks.
(Delta) It must be. And all the mines. Why do you keep saying mine?
(Me) Delta doesn't know what Old English is, she doesn't even know that languages other than English exist. She's lived in a lab for most of her life.
