Your face…. You’re new ‘round here, aren’t you?
Well, I like you enough to not make you dance, kid, but this place isn’t for the faint of your little woolen heart. The outlaw life isn’t for everyone.
But, just the same, we’re a family.
You see that man over there? That’s Butch. Has taken three bullets to the body, and is still out here stealin’ with a lick and a promise. The man beside him? Dierks. He’s a stubborn chiseler who can’t seem to end his lasting relationship with each county jail. Somehow, he still slips from the bars, probably using that damned flannel mouth of his. The two fellas beside them are Dodge and Micha, about as ill-tempered as a broom-tail, but clever nonetheless.
There are many of us, all carrying the gang name high. You wish to become a Longhorn? Well, let me explain something to you.
My name is Silkwick Wolfheart. Known as a curly wolf and an odd stick, but I’ll die standing up. Now, I don’t want to be barkin’ at a knot here, so I need you to ask yourself this…
If you wanna join us, and you think you can quirley…
You’re gonna have to handle me first.

That was probably very confusing. My apologies. But, for that, I shall explain:

I basically really wanted an outlaw/gang/Wild West romance rp, because I couldn’t seem to find any around here. My whole prompt idea was that your character wanted to join an outlaw refuge gang called the Longhorns (although their motivation would be yours to decide), and my character is the leader of it. I’d like it to be a romance, any pairing is alright, and probably will contain a whole lot of comedy. We’ll see where that goes :D Also— do not worry about being historically accurate! It will take place in the 1890’s, but minimal imperfections are totally fine.

Rules:

  • Be relatively active pls :3
  • Rated whatever is fine (for language, actions, etc) / whatever you’re comfortable with
  • 3+ sentences, pls
  • GrAMmaR
  • No controlling someone else’s character
  • We can chill in pm’s if we need to
  • No OP pls. Or maybe yes OP. Depends

I’ll get the character temps up once someone joins :)

@ElderGod-Carrots

Full Name: Bryce Johnson
Nicknames/Aliases: Raven
Age: 19
Gender: male
Occupation: Had a job in a small bookshop

Personality: Bryce tends to be a very closed off person most of the time. He likes to stick to himself as bad experiences with people he considered 'friends' have given him trust issues. He'd rather not be back stabbed again and go through that heartbreak. He really is a sweet boy under the whole tough guy exterior. A child that didn't get the chance to grow up properly. Has a lot of self doubt and insecurities that he tries to hide. Tries to see the best in people however that hasn't worked out the best for him over the course of his short lifetime. Really is just a child at heart, loves adventure and wants to learn as much about the world as possible. Intelligent and hard working, will do anything he can to prove himself to people. Has never experienced real love before, not even from a parental figure so its something he longs for.
Mannerisms: Bites his lip in concentration or if he's nervous. Will pace when he's nervous, too or fidget with his fingers. Likes to lean against anything he can find.
Hobbies: Drawing, writing, archery

Physical Appearance: Bryce stands around 5'7 though more on the shorter side. He's got a fairly good build, though maybe a little on the skinny side. Not much prominent muscle however strong in his own right. He's got more of a body built for sneaking around and stealing then actually being in a physical fight. He has a slight golden tan to his skin however maybe more pale then tan. Can tan in the summer when he actually chooses to go outside. He has dirty blonde hair, learning towards light brown at his roots. It's long-ish, constantly falling across his face. He has big, bright blue eyes that stand out against his skin. Freckles across his his nose and cheeks. Defined features.
Normal Attire / Gear: Normally wears long pants with a tank top of some sort over the top. Has a brown leather jacket he'll wear as well with black boots. Keeps a dagger on him at all times however he tries not to carry too much else unless he's traveling.

Backstory: Grew up in a poor household with just his aunt as he parents passed away when he was fairly young. However his aunt didn't pay much attention to him and he was forced to learn how to take care of himself if he wanted to live. Did well in school for the most part however during the latter years after some… friendship problems he started getting into fights fairly regularly (and loosing but he doesn't talk about that). Found a job and moved into a small place and has been on his own since.
Family: His Aunt, Jane
Other: none

@LittleRiver local_movies

Full Name: Flynn Scotts
Nicknames/Aliases: Goes strictly by Silkwik Wolfheart. Very few know his real name, and usually just call him Silk.
Age: 21
Gender: Male h/h
Occupation: Thief / Bandit / Leader of the Longhorns

Personality: A very tricky guy, usually speaking more with his actions than his words. He likes to play with people, and loves seeing them off their guard. Very flirtatious and speaks in fluent slang and sarcasm. He has a very defensive outside demeanor, but underneath, he is essentially a glass cannon. He cares deeply about his “brothers and sisters,” seeing all of his allies as family and someone to protect. Although he can seem really lax and careless, he will absolutely risk his life for anyone that needs saving. He is a soldier through and through, trying his best to keep his people safe. Although, if you’re the one causing the trouble, he can switch in an instant and take. you. down. He can fulfill every single threat he dishes out, and many people know it.
Mannerisms: Cocks his head if he’s challenging someone / carries a very prideful posture
Hobbies: Kicking around an old can with the gang / singing and playing music / hanging out and talking with the gang

Physical Appearance: Looks something like this or this. Silk stands at about 6’0” and is quite lanky. He has a crooked yet charming smile, a dimple on only one side of his face. His eyes are a deep brown and his hair is a rusted dirty blonde. His facial hair is sort of less taken care of than in the pictures, more rough but it’s clear he puts effort into it. His skin is much tanner and his hands are extremely worn. He has scars around his body but wears them proudly, one of the most prominent ones being a cut down the left side of his mouth. It spans from his bottom lip down to his chin. Silk’s body is more lithe, holding a leaner structure.
Normal Attire / Gear: That standard cowboy attire. He loves those ominous coats and has a holster on either side of his waist, holding two black powder rusted barrel revolvers. He carries his ammo around his belt as well, and a few knives. He has one knife in his boot, another on a strap around his leg, and a third in his belt, pressed against his back, usually hidden by his coat. Otherwise, in his downtime, Silk just wears tough shirts and trousers, as well as heavy boots and spurs.

Backstory: tbd mostly. Silk is the “founder” of the Longhorns, taking together a group of riffraff of all ages and making a small community. A common misconception is that everyone in the gang is bad. That is actually entirely false. They just do what they can to get by, and don’t have malintentions at all. They care for one another deeply, all acting as family.
Family: The gang, and that’s about it.
Other: Has a horse he always refers to as a “crowbait bangtail,” meaning it’s “of poor quality and wild.” Although the horse is just quick to anger and very stubborn. His name is Bear and he’s a Clydesdale paint, who looks a little something like this. The horse was originally training to become a carriage horse, but Silk stole him at a young age, and raised him as his own.

@LittleRiver local_movies

Bear trotted along the trail, Silkwik mounted elegantly atop the large horse. The pines caught the sun, only letting a few warm orange rays through and onto the partially snowy ground. Small needles peeked through, as well as diminutive bushes and larger rocks. It was newly winter, so surely the snow would be stacking upon the ground quickly. Luckily, the gang was only staying here for a night before they continued their movements southwest.
Although Silk could see his breath in the air, his body was warm. Blankets cascaded along the back of Bear, along with various packs filled with supplies. Some of which had been stolen, and many of which had actually been bought.
Silk didn’t normally travel alone, but he wanted to keep the majority of the gang at the camp for the time being. He wanted everyone in one place, especially because they were near the railroad, an area known for its trouble. Although, they couldn’t have traveled any farther that day. As the sun sank lower, everyone grew more and more exhausted.
Bear finally turned the corner, off the path, and weaved throughout the woods until he arrived at what looked to be a camp. A larger older man looked up from his work, his black hair specked with grey and his eyes tired. He gave a small wave, then turned back to tending to his fire.
Silk hopped down from Bear, stroking the horse’s muzzle before taking off the blankets. A few other men, along with a woman, greeted Silk back and helped him with the packs.
Silk walked over to one of the tables, boots crunching the old snow. His skin was alight with the sun’s orange rays, his eyes shining brilliantly as they gazed over his camp.
He had so much more work to do before they got on the road again tomorrow morning.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Bryce had never liked winter, and in fact he hated snow above most things. Traveling in winter was a hassle, and cold, and wet and downright annoying. He could never muster up the courage to get out of bed in the morning when the chill of the winters air cut through his skin like knives.
However today had been different. The young adult had heard of an outlaw gang a while ago but had never had the chance to meet any of them. Normal people who stay away, really, after all they were a gang who had been known to have a reputation. But there was something about them and the stories he'd heard that appealed to him. The traveling, actually being with people who hopefully weren't going to backstab you when you weren't necessary anymore. It sounded like something out of a dream, one he had pursed.
He'd followed the directions he was given from their last known location and the direction they were headed. He hadn't found them and night was closing in. Traveling at night was never a good idea, not when you couldn't see three feet in front of you.
Bryce new vaguely of the area he was in but had never visited before. He knew to be careful, try not get into trouble but trouble had a habit of finding him, apparently. A constant theme throughout his life and one he hated.

@LittleRiver local_movies

“‘s that all?” a gruff voice asked once Silk had set down the blankets. The man turned his head to see the one who had waved. Butch, his name was.
“No, there’s still a few things I have to go back for. I didn’t want to put too much strain on Bear. With all the blankets, didn’t wanna bake ‘em,” Silk replied, folding over one of the edges on the crate so the fabric wouldn’t soak in the minimal snow.
Butch let out a huff, wiping his brow with a gloved hand and setting down the stick he had been prying the fire with. “‘n that’s why you take someone with ya, Wolfheart. Or you just accept the fact that Bear can handle it.”
Silk sighed, brushing the air from his eyes and watching as his breath coiled through the evening air.
“Listen, Butch, it is what it is. Better safe than sorry,” he uttered, turning back and taking up Bear’s reigns. “He’s thick-headed crowbait, but he’s a special one.”
“Mm,” Butch grunted, flicking his eyes back to the fire. “Fine. Just be back before sunfall.”
“It won’t take us long, don’t worry,” Silkwik replied, already stepping up into one of the stirrups. He hoisted himself atop the saddle, Bear prancing anxiously to get going once more. Without another word, Silk dug in his spurs, Bear responding with a sharp turn back down the path they had come.
Silk put the reigns down, holding his hands up to his mouth and trying to warm them, He kept his head on a swivel, checking for any sign of people. The rest of the supplies were hidden a little ways up— mostly just ammunition and extra medicinal supplies.
Suddenly, his heart stopped, as his eyes rested upon another figure. It looked to be a boy, just roughly younger and shorter, blonde hair atop his head and his thin body fitted with a leather jacket.
Silk kept Bear at a steady pace, narrowing his eyes as he realized the boy was traveling in the direction of the camp. He tugged on the reigns, having Bear take a detour through the brush.
“Hey, kid!” he called out, praying there weren’t more of them. He slowly let a hand fall to his side, near one of his holsters. He just hoped he wouldn’t have to pull his gun.
“Where are you headed?” he asked, Bear still ambling closer.

@ElderGod-Carrots

The sudden noise of a person had Bryce's heart quickening and eyes widening. With all this traveling he hadn't been expecting to find someone else out here at this point, on the verge of giving up and returning back to his meager apartment back home.
He blinked, turning on the spot to face the direction the voice had come from. He could only just make out the other man atop his horse at first until he got closer, scanning him up and down. Could this be there person he was looking for? Or one of them? Maybe he was in the Longhorns…
Bryce cleared his throat, resisting the urge to fiddle with someone but he didn't want to look nervous. No, he couldn't be. So he kept his head high and back straight as he replied, "I was looking for the Longhorns, I heard they were traveling this way."

@LittleRiver local_movies

Silk kept his eyes wandering, making positive there weren’t any others with the boy. Upon doing so, his brown eyes flashed back to meet the other man’s gaze.
“What’s your business with the ‘horns?” he asked, cocking his head. He slowly took the reigns back in each hand, trying his best to look non-threatening. Although, with his posture and his height, it seemed difficult to do so.
Despite the fact that Silk was moderately worried for the safety of his own people, he couldn’t help but acknowledge the boy’s alluring eyes. He had to keep himself from staring, narrowing his eyes. He pivoted Bear to the side as he pranced to a stop, so he could be beside the boy. He looked down, his eyes reflecting the sun through the trees like glass.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Bryce swallowed, trying not to look so intimidated. He took a small step back, slipping a hand into his jacket pocket to try and act casual, "Well I," Now that he was saying it out loud, it sounded stupid. But the longing for adventure and something that sounded like a family was too good to not pursue, "I'd like to join them." He bit on his bottom lip, looking up at the man. If he wanted with the group then what then? Maybe he was acting foolish in hopes that he could find and join the group.

@LittleRiver local_movies

Silk let his eyes wander for a moment more, a sudden smile flicking across his face.
“Looking to join ‘em, eh?” he asked rhetorically, stifling a chuckle. This kid was certainly not what he thought he’d come across out here.
He glanced back to the path behind him, then to the boy once more. He tilted his head, tightening and untightening his grip on Bear’s reigns.
He didn’t know what to do, in all truth. Silk knew the railroad was a dangerous place, filled with crooks and bandits. Although, he could be technically considered one of them, the safety of his people came first. For all he knew, the kid could be a spy, or a payed double-agent of some sort.
Still, Silk shook his head. He’d give the kid the benefit of the doubt, but not that easy.
“Tell you what, kid,” he began, looking back to the path again. “You come help me grab a few things, and I’ll take you back to the camp. What’d’ya say?”

@ElderGod-Carrots

He didn't seem to believe it at first. But then Bryce perked up and he nodded, maybe a little too quickly, "Sure! I'd love to help! I take it you're part of the group, then?" It was a dumb and obvious question, one that didn't need answering because the answer has already been given. And yet Bryce still couldn't comprehend it at first. He'd spent ages looking for these guys and he'd actually done it. He was glad he hadn't given up when he'd first thought about it. Or maybe this was all a stroke of luck. Or this dude could by lying and he was going to die but.. he didn't think so.

@LittleRiver local_movies

At this, Silk actually chuckled. “You could say I’m part of it. Now, come on.”
Without another word, Silk tugged on Bear’s reigns, having the horse stalk away. It’s tail swished elegantly behind it, the wiry strands snapping as it flicked back and forth. His hooves trudged along, meeting the ground each step with a crack of the snow.
Silk wasn’t going to offer the boy a ride that easily, or a way back. For now, thus began the series of random tests Silk had in store for a new member. From the looks of it, this kid didn’t seem like much. Silk would have called him scrawny, but he himself had no room to speak.

@ElderGod-Carrots

Bryce knew he wasn't much. He was small with barely any money and not many talents but he was willing to prove himself. He had to.
He jogged to keep up at first, soon falling into step as best he could with the rider and his horse. Luckily he hadn't brought much with him on his journey, mainly because he didn't have many things. His bag contained the usually supplies, water, food, some clothes, money. His bow was strung across his body with the arrows stuff away and peaking out the top of his pack. He was going to make it in, he told himself. He'd do anything he was told if it meant being accepted.

@LittleRiver local_movies

Soon down the path, the snowy railroad came into view. To the side of it, just a little down the way, stood a crate. It was right beside a tree, smaller than expected, with a dim white blanket over it so it could blend in with the snow. Since it wasn’t extremely essential, Silk hadn’t cared for leaving it alone.
Bear came to a stop, and Silk hopped down, brushing past the new boy closely and giving a crooked grin, making his way over to the tree. He popped the lid off the crate, lifting a few bags up and over to attach to the saddle with a few belts.
“Say, what’s your name, Fox?” he asked, glancing over to the boy. The nickname ‘Fox’ seemed suiting for the boy so far, considering he had about the same scrawny look. He seemed like he’d be the cunning type, so Silk obliged.

@ElderGod-Carrots

The nickname caught Bryce off guard at first, however he didn't comment on it and recovered a moment later, "Uh Bryce," He said, zipping his jacket up to keep out the chill of the winter. The lack of sun was starting to bug him, "It's Bryce." Giving his real name to a complete stranger was probably a mistake, but he didn't want to lie. If things went sour then he'll have to accept his mistake, but right now he wouldn't put too much thought into it, "And yours?"
