I have been thirsting (badum tsss) for a vampire roleplay. I have a character that I'm trying to like- work out the little crooks and crannies of their personality, and I would absolutely love to talk about them, because why not? I would prefer to be the vampire, but I do have other characters to flesh out so feel free to ask for preference.
ANYWAYS.
Basic plot I have:

  • A missing prince, a murder attempt, a witch in the woods.
  • The lore is basically you come across a wild vampire (yes, these are different from domestic vampires) and how you interact with it depends on you.
  • This is high fantasy since I've been on that kind of schpeel lately, so just lemme know if you have any questions about the world-building (I'm still flushing it out myself if I'm being honest).

NOTES

  • I would prefer a more experienced roleplay partner, but I prioritize willingness to learn, so- honestly as long as you write well-thought-out answers, and no one-liners, totally fine by me! There is no expectation to be perfect. I understand that sometimes writing comes to a halt and it's hard to think of how to move the plot forward.
  • If I say no, please understand that it is not against you, I just have a specific writing style and so I would like a partner that matches that kind of vibe.
  • This roleplay will be mature, however, that is due to the nature of the world. I'd say it's 18+ so fair warning! Anything explicit will be moved to dm's or completely skipped over (as per andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)'s rules) if it comes to that nature, however, this will most likely be a slow burn if any relationships are going to happen.
  • There will be triggering topics. I am saying that now. There will be violence, there will be death, and there will be questionable moral choices. Please, please tell me if you have triggers, and I will either give a trigger warning, or we can skip over those moments when they come up. This roleplay is supposed to be enjoyable for both of us.
  • Swearing is allowed. It doesn't really phase me, just no slurs.
  • This is a fantasy world- so like- no one gives a shit about your gender or sexuality, so in a sense, this is LGBTQIA+ friendly!

@ElderGod-Carrots

Hi hi, I probably don't need more RP's so before I ask to join, what gender is your character? Only because I'm most comfortable writing men/mxm storylines so, just curious before asking/committing :)

@bleeding_hearts

Hi! He's male! Honestly get that, I feel most comfortable with mlm and wlw storylines as well! If it's alright, and you do want to commit to the new story, all I ask is for a reference of your roleplaying style (whether that be an old roleplay or a paragraph you'd like to write on your own time). And a list of what you are and aren't comfortable with!

@ElderGod-Carrots

Brilliant :) Here is a sample of me writing:

There’s never only one word to describe the feeling that a person has when they wake up on their birthday. An ordinary person may feel excitement, joy. An overwhelming sense of love from the people they celebrate with. Those who lay outside this norm, could express feelings of dread, sorrow and simply nothing at all. Most people would presume a prince would fall comfortably into the category that was the ordinary, however extraordinary their life may be, but for one prince, he fell into the other.

Caspian Rynian. The only living heir to the throne of Eirus and the only prince on the continent to despise his birthday more than he hated waking up at dawn, or the silence that followed after an exceptionally bad joke. Dread had consumed him all day, hiding in his room from the rest of the palace, most importantly his father, knowing that the socialising he was to do at his birthday party tonight would make up for it. It was more of a ball than a party, Cas knew. Nothing was ever small in Eirus, especially when it came to celebrating him.

Standing in front of his mirror, the delicate carving of the wood framing his body in the elegant light of the candles, Cas looked at himself and tried not to grimace at the image that he looked upon. He was dressed in a suit of navy blue satin, the colour shimming in the light and creating an image of starlight. The shimmer of the gold sash that adorned his body glistened, sparkling with specks of silver along the trim that had been woven in, patterns of stars and constellations to match. His sleeves were cuffed, showing the silver cufflinks he wore. He wore simple boots and black trousers, the boots of leather and the trousers of soft cotton. The belt around his waist was decorated with small gems to hide the thread, adding to the look of starlight Cas seemed to be portraying. Around his neck lay a simple, silver necklace with the family crest, a gift from his late mother and one he never took off. The crown atop his head was far too heavy and far too extravagant for his liking. Crystals and jewels that shone marvellously in the candlelight, reflecting into the mirror and bounding away in every direction, lighting up the gold and navy of the structure of the crown.

Piercing green eyes stared back at him, glancing between the crown, his outfit and his face, dark hair in perfect place and not a blemish apart from the scar above his left brow to be seen. All that was missing was a smile. Cas wouldn’t smile until he had to, and that was right outside the doors to the party.

As a birthday gift, his father had gifted him a mask to be worn tonight. Not that it would hide his identity very well considering the gigantic-sized crown and a thousand jewels that he was covered in, but stupid as it was, Cas would wear it.

anyways - if that works for you then my list of boundaries is pretty small uh no r*pe or SA but literally everything else? I'm chill - high violence, sex things etc etc is all chill, it's just those two

@bleeding_hearts

That sounds perfect in that case! I really love your writing style! Would you like a character template (if so, long, short, medium?), and do you have any questions for me?

@ElderGod-Carrots

Thank you thank you! I’ll probably use my boy Cas from that exert anyways because he’s my princey boy and I already have a temp for him so, I’ll post that in a sec - and I don’t think so? My only questions would be how are you planning on stating this and where would the plot be heading like, just a vague idea, but that’s it

@ElderGod-Carrots

If he’s not right for what you’re thinking then let me know and I’ll give him some tweaks :)

Name: Caspian Rynian
Alias: none
Age: 22
Sexuality: bi-sexual
Appearance: Cas has tan skin. He's around average height but more towards the shorter side and pretty muscular in build, although he is pretty skinny despite that. He has brown, chestnut hair, it's floofy and unkempt a lot of the time but on the very rare occasion, he will brush it. He has a strong, chiselled jawline. His eyes are a sharp green colour, rimmed with a black and if you look close enough there are various shades of green in his actual eye. His facial features are well defined, cheek bones sharp and prominent. Cas has a scar in his left eyebrow. He actually has many scars on his body, very visible if he takes his shirt off from war. He also has a tattoo on his back of a dragon.
Clothing: He wears a lot of black, or navy blue. Generally it's a blue or black loose fitting shirt and black trousers and pants.
Weapons: a long sword
Personality: Cas is a very kind hearted person. He's very sweet, always looking for the good in others. He's kind and caring, the kind of person you'd find hanging out with the elderly on the weekends. He's always willing to help others and wants to. Passionate about learning. Strong willed and minded when he wants to be or it's something he loves. However, despite all that, he knows when kindness is needed, and when it is not. Level headed, intelligent. Does have a bit of a temper on him if you piss him off enough, however that doesn't happen often unless you're in a meeting with him and you say something completely idiotic and then he’ll go off. (Luckily this hasn't happened too often as mentioned). He will always put others needs above his own in any situation, even if it might affect him later down the line. Does suffer from anxiety. Is no stranger to a panic or anxiety attack because of this. Trust issues.
Likes: tea, cats, libraries, books, music
Dislikes: small spaces, overly obnoxious people, coffee
Fears: dying, being alone forever
Background: Cas is currently the only living heir to the throne of Eirus. He was the youngest of three children, having two older brothers (Aeron and Arin) who unfortunately, with his mother, passed away in battle when he was 16. The people of Eirus are more or less a peaceful people, very welcoming and loving. But, they hold a lot of power which some people did not agree with, hence the battle. Luckily, they won, but it came with the price of losing their two oldest heirs. Soon after, his father, Octian, cracked down on border control and became more cautious. He was a very good father, very loving and he and Cas don't have many problems. Together, they make their kingdom a very peaceful place to be. The death of their family members hit them both hard but the two of them managed to deal with the grief and they are always remembered in the hearts of their people. He had to grow up very fast in a life of royalty, luckily he had a better childhood than some of the other royals he knows and is very grateful.

@bleeding_hearts

Cas sounds absolutely lovely so I can't wait to interact with him! If I may ask, would Caspian be interested in running away from home, because if so I think I have a good place where I can start us. As for the plot, I do have a plot, but it doesn't really make sense until a bit later, but I will keep you updated on that information as we go! For now, it's kind of establishing characters and going from there!

@ElderGod-Carrots

Sounds good! and yes, Cas would totally be chill with running away - part of his thing is that he doesn’t want to be king so, that works out fine for me!

@bleeding_hearts

Perfect perfect! Alright, in that case, lemme get my boy up real quick, and then we can chat. I was thinking that Cas ran away and ended up getting lost in the forest? Since that will mainly lead to our two characters meeting.

@bleeding_hearts

Name: Saros
Age: 23
Gender: Cis-Male
Pronouns: He/Him/His
Orientation: Queer with male lean
Occupation: Unknown
Title: Unknown
Species: Vampire - Wild
Appearance: Saros is tall, about 5'11, however, he's rather small compared to other vampires. He's lean and incredibly flexible with an hourglass figure. He has long white hair that reaches about to the small of his back. He has bright gray-blue eyes that almost appear the color of glass, framed with long lashes. His skin is as pale as the moonlight, and it's covered in scars along his back and legs. His fangs are retractable, however, they still appear larger than the average human canine. There's a symbol on his wrist, however, it seems to have been cut open various times, as if someone was trying to slice it out of the skin but it kept appearing anyways.
Main Colors: Black, white, red, and royal purple.
Personality: Saros is incredibly distrustful, feral, and hyper-vigilant. He doesn't trust anyone all that much, and he doesn't do well with people. He's been hurt many times before. Though, once his walls are broken, he's actually a very kind, soft-spoken person. He loves exploring the world around him, and despite his feral nature, there seems to be a lot more hidden in the depths of his personality. He's incredibly curious and that curiosity tends to override everything else. He loves learning and loves exploring. He tends to go silent and curl into himself if he feels he has done something wrong. He doesn't anger easily, but he will lash out if he doesn't know you all that well.
Likes: The wild, being alone, sleeping, hunting, learning, soft things, pretty colors, music
Dislikes: The sun, people, sudden loud noises, sudden movements, silver, and various other things that will be mentioned.
Strengths: Surviving in the wild, being alone, fighting, random tidbits of knowledge.
Weaknesses: It’s… very hard for him to communicate his needs and wants, and he doesn’t really know how to react around people. He does NOT do well with children. He’s not very aware of how much strength he has, so he tends to break things without the intention of doing so.
Fears: He’s EXTREMELY claustrophobic, like- he can’t handle large crowds, he hates being in small spaces, he needs a bubble to feel comfortable. He’s scared of breaking the things he actually cares about and is especially terrified of losing the people he cares about.
Background: Unknown, he doesn't remember much. He remembers something falling, a woman crying out his name, but most things before the age of 13 are lost to his memory.

@bleeding_hearts

I can't wait either! Alrighty, last question to get us started! Is it that Caspian doesn't want to be king that sent him off into the woods, or would it be a certain event that set him off?

@ElderGod-Carrots

Hmm… maybe, like in the sample, it’s Cas’ birthday however midway through the party he decides to leave because it gets too overwhelming or maybe he goes for a walk to clear his head, ends up wandering too far and gets lost in the woods? Or, my other idea, he never actually goes to the party and just runs away instead of going, although I feel if he disappeared midway through the event it would be more cause for drama, maybe?

@bleeding_hearts

Ou! Either way I like it, but I always live for drama so- XD Whichever you're most comfortable with! In that case, if you'd like me to start if off, then I would probably start it with setting up the woods. If you'd like to start, then we could definitely have a scene of him deciding to leave the party/entering the woods so it's totally up to you!

@bleeding_hearts

I can start it off! Just a simple starter~

The world was dark, the sun had set. The two moons hung full and heavy in the sky. The earth smelt of rain, dirt, and grime washed away. Thunder rumbled in the distance, but the storms had finally passed to allow the world to bask in the breath of nature and her love. Branches of tall, powerful trees waved back and forth with the soft breeze, and animals slowly chittered away as the night filled with life. The woods reached for miles and miles, settling along the bottoms of mountains, reaching great plains. It was an old forest, filled with ancient magic, and so easy to get lost in. Fey circles, creatures of unknown origin, mysterious shadows lurking… Many had entered, but only a few had escaped with their mind and limbs attached. Rumors of wild vampires, portals to different realms, nature spirits… The possibilities were never-ending. Some had entered to escape reality, and some had entered to disappear, but whatever the case was, there was no doubt that the swaying trees had an allure to them.

@ElderGod-Carrots

The party had been planned perfectly. The castle of Eirus stood glistening as if the brightest star in all of the Seven Systems, with its banners of navy and gold, to the jewels of deep lapis lazuli and diamonds that marred the boarders of the doors to the entrance to the ballroom, and the chandeliers of pure glass and reflected the lights of the adjacent candles, proving to the guests why the castle, and Eirus in general, was deemed Kingdom of the Sun.

Caspian loved his kingdom more than he loved himself, but yet even now, on his twenty-third birthday, his people, his home, didn't fill the hole that was left inside him, no matter how hard he wished and prayed to the Gods above that it would. It was never in his destiny to become king. A child who dreamed of a cottage far away with gardens of roses and lilacs and as many books as he dared find still yearned silently for the idea of that life. The quiet life, out of the public eye and away from the regulations and rules of royal doings. That dream, his younger self's dream - all but died the moment his brothers and mother had, on the field only mere miles from the borders of his kingdom. He never dared think about what his life should have been, and when he did, it was in the quiet of his chambers, far past midnight, when sleep only brought him nightmares.

But right now, with a drink in his hand, and the chattering of royals and nobles alike around him, Cas found himself dreaming about what should have been.

The prince quietly excused himself from the far-too-crowded ballroom, slipping into the cool night's air and thanking the Gods for the soft, gentle hug the breeze provided. Cas sighed, slipping a hand into his trouser pocket and adjusting the sash across his chest. Too extravagant with the gemstones and gold hemming, especially with his crown and golden mask to match his outfit. The peak of perfect royalty.

The gardens bordered the nearby forest, a dangerous place, but Cas found himself walking towards it, with the trees of swaying green calling his name. A small walk couldn't hurt. He needed to calm himself before heading back into the party. And so, he wandered, only looking back over his shoulder once before letting the light of the moons guide his path for the next five minutes.

@bleeding_hearts

The woods whispered eagerly, murmuring about the prince that entered their space. Magic shifted and waved, welcoming the prince into their grasp… and yet offering no way home. The forest beckoned him forward, eagerly welcoming him into their embrace. Small animals quickly scurried out of his way, and the paths seemed easy enough to follow. But the world slowly became darker, the moons began to disappear behind thick foliage, and the trees got older and thicker. The world seemed to swallow Caspian whole.

Magic strummed with life, thick and heavy in the air. Creatures became more odd-looking, and plants grew larger and thicker. Some even seemed to glow with otherworldly light. There was a howl in the distance, a wolf from the sound of it. The creature was far, for now, no threat to the wandering prince. It was as if the forest was watching Caspian, watching his next step, assessing the prince's motivation. Perhaps how he would treat the forest he was wandering into. But for some reason, the world suddenly went very quiet.

Hushed whispers, animals scurrying to hurry away as something else dragged its way through the woods. This creature was different from all the animals, though it was animalistic by nature. It was wounded, though its body was gradually healing. Its skin was pale, standing out in the darkness of the forest, but it was fast enough to catch the prey that it needed. It lifted its head slowly, used to the sense of the quiet world, how the forest grew hushed with its approach. But it could hear the slightest breaths, the softest heartbeats. And it hungered.

Wild vampires were considered rare at best. With the kingdom in the northeast that had become a vampire settlement, Vampires were known for being elegant, well-known ambassadors. They mainly kept to themselves, tending to their own. Humans were welcome, however, the humans were often outcasts, criminals for the most part that chose to be cattle over death. Some vampires would reach out to establish peace and trading companies. Overall, they were civilized individuals who mostly kept to themselves. Wild vampires were the opposite. Creatures of the night, their hunger drives them. Believed to be outcasts, wild vampires were sent into the forests, in hopes that the creatures within the forests would end them. There was an old belief that souls were tied to the forest if one dies within the grasp of the magic within. Some managed to live and were deemed wild and dangerous. A kill on sight.

@ElderGod-Carrots

With no weapons, Caspian was as open and defenceless as any other innocent animal that wandered into the depths of the forest. He could feel the magic around him, and for a man who has no natural magic and hadn't learned the ways of his ancestors, he knew the magic that weaved in between the dark trees and through the fallen oaks was that of great strength and something that no mere mortal should mess with. It had been a mistake to walk and accept the beckoning of the forest. Maybe it was the lack of sleep and the swimming in his head from the wine and the noise that caused his thoughts to be cloudy and muddled, his thoughts trailing away from him just as quickly as they came, or maybe it was the forest itself, with its mysteries and quiet whispers Cas didn't understand.

His breathing was shallow as if he were trying to hide in plain sight, though his heart raced in his chest and beat so hard he could feel it against his ribs as if trying to escape into the dark night. Cas had been told the stories of the forest since he was a child. How it echoed and called men to their deaths, but for some, let them escape unharmed and untouched by its residents. The rare, lucky few. His mother had often threatened to send him and his brothers into the depths if they misbehaved, and as a boy, it was enough to keep him in line and listening.

As a man, one who had had one too many to drink and was not fully present as the warnings escaped him, only to return at the howls and cries of the creatures he was sure to meet. Cas felt all too obvious. He stood out with his clothes of silk, his crown and mask of gold and his racing heart. Running would only alert whoever, whatever it was out there of his presence louder than he already was. He had been careful with his steps to begin with, making sure never to tread on the delicate flowers, avoiding the animals and the paths they created and staying to the ones made clearly by humans to avoid disturbing anything out of respect and care for the natural world. This place, with its whisperings, still deserved decency, even if Cas was the first man to allow it to them.

Not even retracing his steps would the prince return. Cas had wanted to disappear, and maybe the forest had called him for a reason, had heard his silent wish, but now he was here, he didn't know whether this was the correct way of disappearing, or if he had been a fool to let his childish heart compel him to go.

@bleeding_hearts

The forest seemed silent now as if it was holding its breath with Caspian out of fear of what would appear. There was a soft murmur as the wind rustled and anxiety settled over the magic twisting amongst the branches. A bunny hopped from where it sat within the bushes, scurrying towards its home in the dense forest, but something moved with the speed of light, catching the bunny in its claws.

The creature drank greedily until the small fuzzball only had a sliver of life left. A small sigh left its lips as it raised its head, satisfied enough for now. A vampire, bathed in what little light the moons offered. Its claws wrapped gently around the bunny, now awake enough to let its hunger go. A soft murmur of apologies was whispered before the vampire placed the now sleeping bunny near the entrance of its home.

The vampire paused and looked up, wild eyes catching sight of Caspian. The vampire tilted their head in curiosity. They walked on all fours, creeping towards Caspain curiously, sniffing the air for any sense of danger. No… this human was frightened. Something sweet… alcohol perhaps? It was a familiar smell. Many humans wandered into the forest smelling of alcohol. The vampire kept some distance, curiously looking at the silks on the prince. How beautiful. Something flashed in their memory and they paused before slowly backing away. They sat, watching the human curiously, their hair falling on the ground beside them in curls as they sat and admired the human in front of them.

They were thin, their hands dirty from the ground below them. They wore little, just some loose-fitting pants that were made out of a thin fabric, and a shirt that was torn at the shoulders. They were covered in dirt but looked somewhat taken care of. They simply sat, waiting to see what the human would do. Would they run? Fall deeper into the traps of the forest? Would they grow violent because of the stories they had been told? Would they regard the vampire with the same sense of curiosity? Would they faint? The vampire did not know. But they were curious, thus, they sat.

@ElderGod-Carrots

The soft crunch of the branches, the quiet crack of the rabbit being caught and the soft placement of the innocent animal had Cas whipping his head around towards the noise. He wasn't trained in the darkness to see clearly, and the moons provided little help as he squinted to gauge what it was that had caused the rustling in between the silence of the world he found himself trapped in. Fear, pure and unfiltered radiated off the prince, as clear as the oceans far to the west.

A half step forwards, and then two steps back when Cas made out the figure of what seemed to be a man. But what man would be alive this deep, this lost in the woods and simply watching? Unless they weren't a man at all. He knew the stories, of the Vampires and other immortals that lived in the forests waiting for men like Cas to stumble into their homes. The perfect feast. He'd seen battle. Men dying by his hand, Gods, his own brothers had died next to him, and yet the fear that he felt standing on the forgotten paths in this forest was still greater than the worst moment of his life.

Running would draw attention, and he was still clear-headed enough to not faint, and Cas wasn't stupid. Attacking would be pointless. He had no armour, and the thin silk he wore would do nothing against whatever weapons or hands that creature had. He wouldn't last seconds if he attempted an attack. No, he would have to leave. But standing there, in between the trees and in the near silence, Caspian couldn't remember where he came from. He'd lost track of how far he'd walked but by now the lights of Eirus had gone, and he was alone. Well, almost alone.

The prince didn't take his eyes off the shadow in the darkness, the faint outline was enough, and its eyes were bright enough in the soft moonlight to have him petrified. He took another step backwards and tripped, landing with a thud that seemed to echo and ring far too loudly. His crown fell, landing in the fallen leaves, and the mask he wore jolted, revealing his face in its entirety. Dark green eyes widened, reaching with one hand to remove the mask entirely to see properly - and it was the best weapon he had, even if a bit useless and pathetic. Respect. He tried to think and remember, but his mind raced and he was frozen to the ground.
