Hey to anyone who sees this!
I am in a college public speaking course and for my final speech I am talking about the benefits and positives of creative writing. It is a persuasive speech, so my goal is to hopefully convince my classmates to try creative writing.
I would love to put out a poll here to get some anecdotal research.
My question is:
Why do you write? What do you enjoy or not enjoy about it?
How has writing helped or benefited you in some way, or not?
Overall would you say your experience with creative writing is positive or negative?
Thanks!
Hm… I write because I love creating worlds and people, and it's making my dreams as much of a reality as they can get. And creative writing has helped me see the world in different ways, realizing different things like how love can do more damage than hate and everyone believes they are the hero of their story. :) Good luck with your speech!

Omg thanks so much, this is a great anecdote!
Thanks, I hope it goes well lol
I write for an escape. I write because I can choose how the story ends. I can create and build empires and write oceans and mountains into existence. I can write people who are like me and have my issues and things I desire to portray. Creative writing has benefitted me because it gives me an outlet and a place where I can wholly and truly be me. Where I design and where I choose who wins and who loses.
I write because I feel like I've always had stories running around in my head, and writing gives me the outlet for my imagination and my emotions. Stories consume me constantly. I love writing, and exploring worlds and stories of my own design gives me life.
I feel like my life has been relatively boring, for the most part. Stories and creativity are the things that occupy my mind in place of many other things. Stories give me an escape from the worries of life, and the power that I lack normally to change anything. Writing is my therapy to process and have an outlet. Writing comes very naturally to me, and I express myself best through written word.
I can't separate my life from my creative writing. Without it, life would be so much harder to bear. So I guess you would say it's been a positive experience!
I actually take a creative writing class, but I write because I wish all my idea's could be real. I wish I had superpowers, or was a warrior in a fictional world. I have so many idea's and just wish they were real
I write because I want to be able to make some kind of meaningful story one day. I write so maybe I can write something as cool as all the books and stories I love. I can't exactly say it's benefitted me specifically, but its been fun at least! So its been overall positive.
I write because it's a way for me to express my thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a way that feels natural and fulfilling to me. I love the creativity that comes with writing and the ability to bring my imagination to life on the page.
I've found that writing has been incredibly beneficial for me in terms of personal growth and self-reflection. It allows me to process my emotions and thoughts in a more structured way, and has even helped me work through challenges and difficult experiences.
Overall, I would say my experience with creative writing has been overwhelmingly positive. While there may be times when the words don't come as easily or when I'm not as happy with the end result, the process itself is always rewarding and fulfilling. So, I would say I'm pretty grateful for the role writing has played in my life.
These are all amazing, thanks guys!
