((Maybe more awkwardness?))
((Yeah. Maybe put them in a long term situation where they have to work together on something?))
((We could do that)
((Yeah. I hate to be extremely stereotypical but we could pull the good old having to work on something together for school? Or they could get lost somewhere together? Either of those sound appealing to you?))
((Or, wait, I just had an idea, we never exactly said that Nico made it back, maybe he starts heading over to his car, having some car problems or something, and like the only person left around the cafe is Brenn, and like some awkward bonding time there?))
((Ooh I like that actually))
((Thank you! Would you like me to start it?))
((If you don’t mind, that’d be great!))
Brenn had stayed sitting in his car for a little bit, responding to some texts from the guy from earlier. But after a few minutes of just sitting there he watched Nico come over to his car, and Brenn inwardly groaned, Great. . . He watched the guy get into his car, and from where he was parked he could hear the car trying to turn over, but nothing was happening. Brenn rolled his eyes and watched a little bit more until he started to feel bad for the guy, just a tiny bit. He got out of his car and walked over to the man's car, his jumper cables in hand, "Need some help?" Brenn said with a bit of a smirk.
Nico, who had been spending the past few minutes cursing at his car under his breath, looked up when Brenn spoke, his eyes narrowed. But after a second, his hostility faded. He sighed quietly, “yeah I guess I do need help…”
Brenn chuckled a bit under his breath, "I'll pull my car over to your's, in the meantime, could you pop the hood for me?" He said as he walked over to his car. Once he car was pulled over and in alignment with Nico's, Brenn began to set up the cables. "Now just wait for a couple seconds for my car to turn on, and hopefully you'll be on your way." he said as he clmibed into his truck. After a few seconds he motioned for Nico to try to turn on his car again.
Nico nodded, popping the hood of his car and climbing into the driver’s seat, keeping the door open so he could hear Brenn’s instructions. Once Brenn motioned to, Nico tried starting up his car. “Come on, come on!” He mumbled under his breath.
Brenn could hear the car sputtering, but nothing was happening at all, Weird. . . He got out of his truck and walked over to Nico's car. Brenn started to study the model of the car, then he got an idea, "Hey Nico, how long have you had your car? And what year is this model?" He motioned for the guy to get out of his car, and he checked the dashboard, Oh god, that's a lot of check lights. Hopefully, I'm right with my guess. "Can I see your key fob real quick?:"
Nico merely shrugged at the first question, honestly having no idea. “She’s pretty old, not gonna lie.” He handed his key fob over to Brenn, a curious look on his face. “You think you know what’s wrong?” He asked.
Brenn groaned, "Then this isn't going to work, I think. Last time I saw something like this was with a newer car, but if your car has a key fob then it should work. . . I don't know, it might just be a Chrysler thing." He mumbled as he pressed down the first top two buttons of the key fob holding them down for a couple of seconds, then the front lights of the car flashed. "Try it now." Brenn said, his voice full of relief, "Wait, let me get those cables off." He quickly removed all of his things, then gave Nico a thumbs up as an okay, "You're good to go now."
Nico tried it, really hoping the car wasn’t actually broken, he didn’t have the money to get it replaced right now. Thankfully, the car actually started back up. He smiled victoriously. “Yes! Good car!” He said, gently patting the dash, still kind of afraid of it breaking down again.
Brenn chuckled, now standing by Nico's car, "I didn't think it would work with your car, especially since you said it was old." He heaved a sigh of relief, sort of happy that Nico was okay, although he didn't know why, the guy was a jerk to him- well they were jerks to eachother-, but still it was nice to see that it worked out, "Well, uhm I'm glad that you're alright though."
“Yeah the old girl always pushes through.” He said with a small smile. He awkwardly looked up at Brenn. “Um…thanks I guess. I totally would’ve had to walk home if you hadn’t helped out.” He quickly looked back down at his hands, his fingers tapping on the steering wheel.
"It's no problem really, I would've hoped that someone would've done the same for me had I been in that situation." He trailed off awkwardly, "But uhm, that's not true, I would've given you a ride home or something, it wouldn't have been fair for you to walk home by yourself." He said with a shrug, "Well, uhm, I think I have to go now, so I uhm, yeah.. . ." He said kind of making the situation pretty awkward, "Wait, uhm would you like me to drive behind you, or whatever the word is to make sure you get back safely?:
He absently nodded at the first bit before finally speaking up when Brenn asked him a question. “Uh no it’s fine, I should be okay to make it the rest of the way. But thanks anyway.”
Brenn shrugged, "Okay then." And started to walk away to his car, Meh, it was probably for the best, I don't want one of the guys to see then get weird about it or something. That'd be dumb, oh so dumb. He thought as he closed his car door and strapped himself in, Although, he is kind of cute, but still, it's dumb and you hate him, you hate the guy.
Nico closed the car door, buckling his own seatbelt. So maybe Brenn was a little less annoying than he originally thought. And maybe Nico had been a jerk to him for no real reason, just maybe. He sighed softly. “Oh well I guess.” He began driving back towards his apartment. So far so good.
Brenn quickly drove back to his apartment, where his roommate was sitting on the couch, looking kind of upset, almost as if he had been waiting for him. "I'm sorry I was late." Brenn mumbled, "I know movie night is a big deal to you, but Nico had some car problems and I stayed to help him. I think the key fob wasn't synced up to the car, although that was kind of weird since he has an old car, but it all worked out." He added hastily, sitting on the couch next to the guy, "So, are we still on for the movie or no?" But the guy seemed to be stuck on the fact that he had helped Nico, "Yeah, why wouldn't I help him? It's not that big of a deal. . ." Then came te shower of questions as to why he did that.
Nico made it back to his apartment after about 15 minutes of driving, experiencing no problems on the way. He opened the door to his apartment, flicking on the lights. “I’m hooome!” He called out and was met by a jingling sound and a few short happy barks as his Australian Shepherd came into view. Nico smiled, bending down to pet her. “There’s my favorite girl!” He smiled as the dog licked his face.
Eventually, all of the questions from Brenn's roommate were satisfied, although the guy was still worried about Brenn, figuring that if he did something nice to Nico that he must have been brainwashed or something of that nature. Luckily for Brenn though, the movie night had been forgotten about, so he decided to go back to his room to relax a bit. He scrolled through his phone, but since it seemed like nothing was going on, he grabbed one of the books from his bookshelf and began to read, flipping through the worn pages to his favorite chapter.
