Ajax hummed gently like he was contemplating his next answer even though he already knew what he was going to say, "I know I'm not obligated to help. Trust me, if I didn't want to help, I wouldn't. You saved my life, Nathaniel, but regardless of that, you're interesting, and I want to get to know you better." There was no lie in his voice, just honest truth in the softness of his words. He might be repeating things, but quite frankly he didn't care, Nathaniel needed some reassurance, and Aj was happy to provide, "You're not a trouble. I've met trouble, and you're far from it."

Nathaniel rested his head on Ajax's shoulder with a weak smile, his dimples briefly visible. "Mm… I'm glad you think so. I try to stay out of trouble as much as I can…" He sighed and looked away, shifting to be more comfortable. "Speaking of… you don't think your friend is gonna tell anybody, right?" He asked nervously. "About my wings, I mean… I-I'm worried it wouldn't go over well." He glanced back at his wings, which he then drew closer to himself so they wouldn't just be dragging on the floor.

Aj shook his head, "He won't say anything without talking to me first." Even with the most shocking news, or the most outrageous and unbelievable things, like an angel, Max wouldn't say a word without Aj's permission. Not unless it was desperate and a situation that called for it. Nathaniel's secret would be safe with him and Max, and if it wasn't well, Max knew what would happen if he talked, "He might be a little… shocked… confused I dunno, but he wouldn't tell anybody. I trust him."

"Alright… if you're sure." Nathaniel sighed and rubbed at his cheek a bit with his thumb to try and get rid of the last of his tear tracks. "I think I'm… I think I'm alright now. Thanks… um…" He laughed softly, his smile making an appearance again, "I sort of forgot why we were here in all the commotion… you're hurt. We were getting your stuff, and… are you feeling any better?" He asked, looking up at Ajax with genuine concern. "Did the shower help your wounds at all? I have some more pain medication at my place if it's time for you to take more."

"I'm glad you're feeling alright now." Aj was more than happy to see Nathaniel's charming smile return and eyes light up gently once more. He'd more or less forgotten about the pain from his wounds since he was more worried about the angel than himself, "I'm the same as before. I probably shouldn't have any more painkillers for a little while. The pain isn't awful but it's not great." The shower at least helped soothe the wounds a little, but the pain now he was focused on it was uncomfortable and just slightly nauseating, "But uh- at least I'm clean now." And a lot more presentable. Definitely smell better now too.

"Alright… at least the pain isn't intolerable." Nathaniel sighed and rested his head on Ajax's shoulder for a minute before he decided to get to his feet. He pushed himself up, still looking very wobbly and a little lightheaded when he stood. "We should get going, then, so you can rest more back at my place. Are you feeling well enough to drive, or would you like me to?" He asked. He couldn't really drive, so he was hoping that Ajax was feeling okay.

"I'm happy to drive," Aj got up, half wanting to rest his hand on the small of Nathaniel's back to help steady him. He could tell the angel was a little shook up still, if only a small amount and he couldn't help but feel as if it was somewhat his fault. It was his mate that pointed a gun at him, "I want to get to know you more when we get back to yours." He said, moving to grab his keys.

"Alright, that's fine by me…" Nathaniel drew in a few deep breaths to help himself be a bit more steady before he made his way towards the door. "I guess you should think of some questions you want to ask on the way then, huh? I should as well." He laughed softly, keeping his wings very close to his body as he hesitated by the door. After a few seconds of building up the courage, he hurried outside and got into Ajax's car.

Ajax made sure the car was unlocked before Nathaniel headed out the door so he could climb right in. In all honesty, he was more worried about Max than he was letting on. He knew his friend wouldn't tell anyone, but the lecture he was in for later from him was one that only had his stomach churning a little. They were friends, and technically Ajax was his superior but they were still friends and he was way more lenient to him than anyone else. Climbing into the car with a soft chuckle he nodded, "Yeah, questions. I've never been very good at the whole getting to know people thing so, bare with me."

"That's fine… I'm not either." Nathaniel laughed weakly, running his fingers through his hair as he tried to relax. Part of him didn't want to ask why Ajax had a friend who pointed guns at people, since he thought it might be a sensitive subject, but the other part figured it might be important information. Maybe I should stick to more basic stuff, like his favorite animal or something… He sighed softly, trying to think. I'll think of something. He looked over to Ajax, curious what he might be thinking about.
