While this game kicks ass, the story doesn't. I want to fix that.
You are an Outer, a human who is unaffected by the Femto energy that was unleashed during the first Moonfall. A chunk of the moon broke off and crashed into Earth, reddening the sky and poisoning the seas. Many people died, and to make matters worse, Femto corrupted many Artificial Intelligence units, causing them to break free of human control and take over military technology. Each AI has its own personality and operates under their own faction, the Immortals.
As a result of this war, humans forced to take refuge under the protection of Consortiums, like corporations that also rule their own countries. The Consortiums are Horizon, Orbital, Zen, and Sky Union, and they all need to abide by the rules of treaties made post-Moonfall. That doesn't mean that they don't try to aid each other in desperate times of need, but one Consortium is always looking for repayment from another when they do help out.
Outers like yourself are contracted by Consortiums as Reclaimers to fight off the Immortal threat through the use of Arsenals, massive mech suits that are armed to the teeth with weaponry. Outers are implanted with neural links to their Arsenals, and then those Outers are registered as Reclaimers. You can go it alone, but most Reclaimers join groups like Bullet Works and Panzer Crown, but they usually have a theme they try to stick with. The Western VII is made up of convicts trying to reduce their sentences, Panzer Crown is an all-female group, Immortal Innocence is made up of younger Reclaimers that have all made it out of some really hairy situations relatively unscathed, etc.
You all will be joining the group Iron Dragons, a relatively new group in desperate need of some new members.
Here's the character template:
~Outer~
Name:
Callsign: (The nickname given to pilots, especially common in the Air Force)
Age:
Gender:
Physical Description: (Not including outfits, but you can describe the color of your standard-issue Plugsuit)
Reason for becoming a Reclaimer: (i.e. money, power, fame, protecting someone you love, finding someone, etc.)
Strengths:
Flaws:
~Arsenal~
Name:
Physical Description: (Bipedal, obviously. All Arsenals are able to fly.)
Weaponry: (Most are outfitted with sidearms, a shoulder weapon, some auxiliary thing – ammo booster, radar jammer, grenade box, etc. – and a shoulder-mounted weapon like rocket launchers or laser cannons. Don't be ridiculous and give it something like gatling-gun wings or other weird, overpowered shit. Swords and melee weapons are cool, though.)
Strengths: (What's your Arsenal built for? Fighting? Flying? Defense? Scouting? etc.)
Weaknesses: (Can lasers slice right through it? Is its aim a little shaky or does it take a second or two to lock on? Is it slow in the air or on the ground? etc.)
Am very interested, never played the game but this just seems cool. Its mechs, come on people.
~Outer~
Name: Ash Heath
Callsign: Bison
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Darker skinned, with grey eyes brown shoulder length hair often done into a messy sort of bun, plugshuit is a solid oil black.
Reason for becoming a Reclaimer: (A hope of remaking his name)
Strengths: A insane tactical mind and the ability to make decisions quickly
Flaws: Overconfident in his own skills and often brash and short tempered
~Arsenal~
Name: Lineman
Physical Description: Large and boxy, almost tank-like, colored army green and grey. Heavy legs well adept for handling tough terrain and large arms and body, well suited for soaking up enemy fire.
Weaponry: Left arm mounted Gatling gun, a auxiliary ammo box, as well as a shoulder mounted rocket launcher. The right arm has a physical shield capable of taking a heavy beating from most physical weaponry, but is weak to rocket and energy weapons, In addition, the Gatling gun can be switched out for a heavy howitzer type weapon.
Strengths: Frontline defense
Weaknesses: Exceedingly slow and easy to hit.
This okay? @Yamatsu
Works for me! I forgot to add a callsign, though. It's the nickname pilots get, especially in the Air Force. Here's mine, since people are starting to show interest.
~Outer~
Name: Joseph Stankevich
Callsign: Copperhead
Age: 49
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Right on the cusp of middle age, he still has most of his physique from his time in the military. Muscular with a bit of pudge from his wife's cooking, but his old dark blue plugsuit "still fits!" Trust him.
Reason for becoming a Reclaimer: Protecting his family and trying to help make the world a better place for his children.
Strengths: Very mechanically minded, knows most Arsenals better than their pilots due to his work as a mechanic in the Air Force.
Flaws: Unfortunately, most of his mechanical skills don't translate into piloting an Arsenal. He's fine for the most part but can get overwhelmed easily.
~Arsenal~
Name: Queenie
Physical Description: Big and bulky, but armed to the teeth. Everything is heavily armored and colored a bright bronze.
Weaponry: Two assault rifles, one in each hand. Back-mounted Femto cannon and twin shoulder-mounted box rockets. The rockets aren't homing, but there's enough of them to take out a lot of enemies. Two emergency submachine guns are stored on the auxiliary pylons on the back, but that takes up the slot for something like an ammo booster or grenade box.
Strengths: Incredible defense and offense.
Weaknesses: Slow to lock on due to old hardware, Copperhead thought it best to prioritize attack over actually hitting the target. Queenie is big and slow, and can't outrun any rocket or missile, so her best tactic is to just get hit and survive.
(Bumping because it's been a while.)
(sorry, thought you were going to start, laughs in overdue papers)
(I was waiting for more people is all. Two would work, but having more means I could lead a bit more without having to worry about accidentally commandeering the whole thing.)
Actually, better question: is this alive at all?
I mean, I'm still here. No clue about IAMUS, though.
Anyone up for breaking out the shock paddles and bringing this back?
Sweet! Let me put in my character!
~Outer~
Name:Alaria Echo
Callsign: Blink
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Physical Description: Lithe, but powerful. After years as a professional thief, her endurance is exceptional.
Reason for becoming a Reclaimer: She’s tired of being chased. She’s here to clean her slate and carve out a new living and clear away her old Alias: Viper
Strengths: She’s a very good movement specialist, and not bad with most rapid-fire weapons and sniper rifles.
Flaws: She’s still trying to get used to taking orders, and she isn’t used to direct confrontation. She loses herself in a firefight.
~Arsenal~
Name: Butterfly
Physical Description: Skinny, with more of an emphasis on being light-weight and easy to maneuver. Given as large a range of movement as possible. Painted black with orange and white detailing.
Weaponry: Armed with twin relatively low caliber smgs for fast-attack skirmishes. Equipped with a radar hammer for quick getaways and ambushes. Her shoulder-mounted weapon is a heavy laser rifle that she uses to finish off targets she or another arsenal has weakened. Carries an arc-dagger for encounters that get too close.
Strengths: Speed. Lotsa speed.
Weaknesses: She can’t tank a hit for anything, and the smgs she uses are mostly to weaken a target. Her accuracy at anything other than close range with them is also incredibly awful.
Sorry that took so long. What do ya think?
Works for me! The team looked a little tanky, so having a sort of glass cannon or rogue character helps even things out a bit. I'll try and put out for a couple more members before we begin.
(Mind if I join? This sounds amazing)
(Yay! Ok I’ll get up a character soon!)
~Outer~
Name: Arlo Brooks
Callsign: Shadow
Age: 29
Gender: Male h/h
Physical Description: Arlo’s skin is a light mocha color, clear of freckles or different pigment. His eyes are a striking green, contrasting his skin and hair perfectly. His build is skinnier than most, however his muscles are clearly defined. He stands at about 6’0” and holds himself high with a sense of confidence. Arlo has deep black hair that is never styled, so it goes wherever it wants. It’s shaved on the sides and much longer on the top, often falling into his eyes. Emerald green plugsuit.
Reason for becoming a Reclaimer: Arlo’s dad is a reclaimer, and someone he hates. His full drive is to surpass his father.
Strengths: Arlo is generally good at keeping positive outlooks. He tries to help whomever he can, and is an exceptional gunslinger even without his mech. He is also an exceptional engineer, and will fix up whatever problem your mech is having on the field or off it.
Flaws: He can and will sacrifice himself for any one of you.
~Arsenal~
Name: Sentry
Physical Description: Smaller and plated with black sheen. It has small dark green insignias for “charm,” Arlo says. He built most of it himself and divvied it up to his own liking.
Weaponry: Mainly equipped with long-range weapons. It’s left upper appendage (or arm) can spring the barrel of a suped-up sniper rifle that he can shoot on cue. His scope can translate to his inner eyepiece, so there’s less contortion when aiming. His right arm holds sort of a mechanical cloaking mechanism, so hiding to snipe is even easier for him. Along with the cloaking, he has an emergency blade compartment that can extend an iridium-like blade. His shoulder weapons consist of rocket launchers, however the rockets are more discreet. They’re a kind he built himself, having little to no trail and showing up at random times around the battlefield because of how undetected they go.
Strengths: Hiding and taking down enemies from afar. With how many mechanics it possesses, it’s good at what it does.
Weaknesses: It can’t tank whatsoever. One hit to it has the ability to throw off the technology of it because of how much it has. Malfunctions end up occurring after a single hit.
(Let me know if this works)
(Just so we're clear when you say "spring the barrel," do you mean like Geno where the hand folds over at the wrist and a barrel pops out of the arm, along with the rest of the rifle mechanics?)
